Football Crazy

Jonas has always wanted a real leather football, and then he gets one for his birthday! Surely the big boys will let him play with them now. But a wild game begins on the football field, and little Jonas is pushed to one side, even though it’s his ball. Then the ball flies over the wall and crashes through the window of the scrapyard. Everyone runs away – except Jonas. He wants his ball back. Jonas gets in trouble with the scrapdealer but his dad helps him sort it out. Then Dad explains how it’s not only size that counts in football, but skills and using your head. And so they dribble, kick and dodge. They pass to each other and shoot at the goal. Jonas gets better and better... At the local sports day, there’s a goal scoring competition. Dad’s friend, who played in a team with Ballack (THE German top player) at school, gets eight out of ten shots in the goal. Then it’s Jonas’ turn. Twice he misses. Then he kicks it six times into the goal! With his seventh goal he has scored more goals than the boys from the football field. He wins a pair of football gloves. But best of all is that the club team coach claps him on the back and says: ‘You can start tomorrow, Jonas!’
